Thailand Buses

The bus service in Thailand is worth commenting. Buses travel throughout the country. The name of the government’s bus company is BKS i.e. Baw Kaw Saw. This Transport Company has a terminal in every town. These buses are best if you compare their price and comfort with others. Several private bus companies are there. But these are not that reliable in terms of schedules, amenities, and safety. Don’t believe in non-government VIP buses because they are also pretty unreliable.

Some of the basic types of buses are local, express, second class, first class, VIP and S-VIP buses.

Local: These buses are relatively slow and can be cramped when full. These buses stop at every village and cowshed along the way. Many of the buses are of larger songthaew flavor. The local buses are not at all suitable for long-distance travel. But of course you can travel locally at very cheap rates.

Express: These buses skip some stops, but no other frills. Express buses can be identifiable by their orange color. Usually size varies but generally one normal sized bus has 65 sitting arrangements.

Second class: Second class buses skip more stops, but often take a less direct route than 1st class, VIP or S-VIP buses. These are Blue and white with an orange stripe. Normally 45-48 seats are there in each bus. In this air conditioned buses some provide blankets while some do not. Most of the buses have no on-board toilet but the frequency of stops helps a lot.

First class: These buses take the most direct routes and make very few stops. First class buses are usually blue and white in color. Some of the other features can be mentioned as air conditioning, fewer seats i.e. 40, blankets, snack and drinking water included. Some of the double decker buses can contain 60 passengers. These buses have a toilet on board.

‘VIP’: These buses are as per first class that provides 32-34 seats. The buses are usually specious and have enough leg space.

‘S-VIP’: Super-VIP is very similar to VIP buses. These buses contain 24 seats, which are wider. Some of the buses may have TVs and sound systems. So, it is advisable to carry earplugs if you have any.

There are various places in Thailand which are worth visiting. When you are visiting with your family member you may not be comfortable visiting the bars and all. But not to worry Thailand has many attractive places where you can enjoy with your family members. Some of these are as follows:

Grand Palace in Bangkok: This is the world famous site in Bangkok. The Grand Palace is a complex of royal buildings where royalty in Thailand lives in true sense. However, only one complex, the Wat Phra Kaeo, is open to tourists. The Grand Palace is a must see place in Thailand.

Suan Pakkad Palace: The palace is the perfect place for you to go if you want to have a look at traditional houses in Thailand. Also, in Suan Pakkad Palace, there are art collections which you might want to go to. This is a tourist destination that will suit an art lover's taste.

Vimameck Mansion: This mansion turned museum is the largest teakwood mansion in the world. This is the reason why this Vimameck Mansion turned into a museum as well. You can also see various artifacts exhibited in the museum.

National Museum in Bangkok: You cannot complete the sightseeing in Thailand without visiting the National museum. This is located in Bangkok. Interesting places to visit in Thailand

The bright colors of the statue make it more attractive. This religious place should be visited when in Thiland and this is also not far from Bangkok.

While being impassioned about protecting them, you can enjoy and relish their company through the Tarutao Marine National Park. This can be mentioned as a must visited place while in Thailand.

Thai Boxing: In Thailand, people call the sport as ‘Muay Thai’. You should not miss one or two of the matches while in Thailand. Thai boxing is actually a very historic sport throughout the history of Thailand. It has royal as well as religious roots. Thai boxing in Thailand can never be the same as in other places although it is performed in many other countries.

Some diving places in Thailand

Diving is an exciting game which is very popular in Thailand. More or less diving is available in all the places in Thailand but some of the places are really important such as places around the Koh Kraden wreck i.e. the remnants of a Japanese destroyer. Hin Nok is the other place known as home to the unusual Ghost Pipefish and Koh Dok Mai where diving can be done at night. But above all the diving around the Similan Islands is simply stunning. This can be called as the world class dive destination. The marine life is beautiful when the backdrop is clear water and white sand. The name of different islands can be mentioned as Breakfast Bend, Turtle Reef, East of Eden, Sharkfin Reef, etc. The Breakfast Bend is so called as often a person does his first dive here after breakfast. Sharkfin Reef is a self explanatory island where other fishes and underwater plants are available plenty in numbers.

It is always advisable to check the diving in the area where to be visited. Some places are better than the others. But often it is seen that the heavily populated places are less attractive. The example can be given as Pattaya offers to teach diving to different families. Usually the seas on the East coast are relatively unaffected by the sudden weather changes. It can sometimes fall in on the West coast during the rainy season. The diving cannot be so interesting on other locations as it is on the Similan Islands. However, if you want diving to be a part of your holiday then this may not matter as much. But in case you want diving to be the main reason for your holiday then you should be more particular about the place.
