Connectivity to Thailand

Thailand is a well connected city where you can go by train, flight, buses and also by boat. While talking about railways it should be mentioned that Thailand has a reasonably wide, fairly slow and very cheap rail network. While visiting Thailand, you cannot be in hurry. The overnight train journey in sleeper class from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is the most popular route. If you want to reach at the north side of Thailand, this is the impressive way. But there are other day trains where you can see more scenery.

Some other useful routes can be mentioned as Pranburi to Chumphon for Koh Tao, the line south from Bangkok past Hua Hin, to Surat thani for Koh Samui, and Nakhon Si Thammarat. Sharing your carriage with monks, school kids and other types of passengers is an interesting thing. Vendors sell drinks and snacks. You can also find Sticky Rice cooked in fresh bamboo stems, seafood, fresh fruits like mango and pineapples and packaged rice while sitting in a train. So, by spending some dollars you can get a cool journey with lots of entertainment.

The boat journey to Thailand is sometimes very easy as if you are trying to visit Krabi, the easiest way to reach there is boat. The shared or private longtail boats provide a ferry type service. These longtails are found everywhere and they can easily compare to the buses and taxis on roads. The longtain boats can be hired from private charter. These boats use diesel engines which are taken out from vans and trucks. To get down from such boats you should jump because there is no landing pair as such. If there is no fixed fare chart you should fix up the fare before setting off.

The major islands and ports are connected by ferries. Some of the routes include Phuket to Koh, Phi Phi to Ban Laem, Kruat to Koh Lanta on the west or Andaman coast. Koh Samui i.e. Nathon or Big Buddha to Koh Phangan i.e. Thong Sala or Hat Rin is well connected. Koh Tao to Chumphon i.e. mainland on the east or Gulf of Thailand coast is alos connected by ferries
